Australia - Places to go, Things to do
by David Hughes
Australia is one of the most fascinating countries to visit for a vacation. This magnificent country is so large that each of its corners has something unique to offer to its tourists, and all of its cities are very well planned and beautiful, which makes them a place to visit at least once. With many natural wonders, wide open lands, deserts, forests, grassy vistas, mountains, and beaches, this island continent has a lot to offer. Cities like Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, and Canberra also provide various sightseeing options for tourists.
You will love Sydney because of its beautiful planned streets and many other offerings including fashion, food, art, and design. The Sydney Opera House is one of the wonders of the modern world, and is a well known building of Australia. It is also one of the most well-known performing arts venues in the world, and here you can enjoy world's prominent theatrical, musical, and dance performances.
The Australian Museum is also located in Sydney. Here you can see natural history and anthropology and walk through one of the oldest museums in the country at the same time. You can look at collections of vertebrate and invertebrates, zoology, palaeontology, and anthropology on a visit here.
Melbourne is the place to go if you are looking for a culinary holiday, or looking to immerse yourself in culture or sport. It is said to be the most cultured city in Australia, and has beautiful Victorian architecture, museums and galleries, theatres, and parks. Brisbane needs to be another spot on your Australian adventure, as this is where you will enjoy shopping, strolling along the boardwalks, and revelling in the amazing nightlife.
The Great Barrier Reef, off the coast of Queensland, is another must-visit site in Australia. It is one of the natural wonders of the world and an extremely popular tourist destination. Here you can enjoy scuba diving and boating in the warm clear waters.
The Gold Coast is a coastal area of Queensland, and is called a Surfers Paradise. It has a sunny climate, great surfing beaches, and a beautiful skyline. With its active nightlife and many tourist spots, this is another must see place in Australia.
You should also visit the Belair National Park near Adelaide, as here you can see the Old Government House, Park Nursery, Playfor Lake, and the Adventure Playground. You can also go to Daintree National Park, which is home to tropical birds, reptiles, and countless species of wildlife. The fauna in Australia is unique, and you will see species that you will not see anywhere else in the world, only perhaps in a zoo. You can see wallabies, kangaroos, and koalas, and will come to know and understand what they look like in their natural habitat.
Australia is a large country, so it will be impossible to see everything in one trip. But try and cover one coast during your stay. Furthermore, make sure you see all of the above mentioned spots as they are some of the very best that the country has to offer.
